About

Richard Mack Brim, Jr., has been known as “Little Man” since the day he was born. Born in Gainesville, Florida, he calls Old Town, Florida, home. Growing up swimming in the Suwannee River and the springs that surround it, he developed a deep connection to the place he has always called home.

Richard’s life has been shaped by a wide variety of hands-on work, including welding, mechanical work, oystering, fencing, palm tree cleaning, home building and renovation, and even working in a movie store. Each experience has contributed to the resourcefulness, creativity, and craftsmanship he brings to his work today.

A natural inventor and problem-solver, Richard has a gift for imagining something new and figuring out how to build it. He often creates his own tools to bring his ideas to life, combining practical knowledge with original designs.

After undergoing both a liver transplant and a kidney transplant, Richard shifted his focus toward smaller, handcrafted pieces that can be created in his home workshop. His work includes chairs, end tables, lamps, cradles, children's furniture, bar stools, gun, hat, and boot holders, coffee tables, small dining tables, and other unique wood products designed to be both useful and distinctive.

Today, Richard continues to put his creativity and craftsmanship into every piece he builds, creating original, thoughtfully made items from a small shop in the place he calls home.

Meet Carol Ann Williams

Owner

Carol Ann Williams has always had an appreciation for wood and its many possibilities. Originally from Ohio, she moved to Florida in 1963 and attended Florida State University, where she studied Interior Design and Business. Her education, combined with her experience working as a draftsman, helped shape her appreciation for design, functionality, and craftsmanship.

Carol Ann was married to a general contractor for 23 years, gaining valuable experience and insight into the construction industry. She later spent 16 years working with Florida Coastal Properties, Inc. and Century 21 in the Shell Point Beach area before establishing Coastal Gems Real Estate, Inc. in 2000. After several years of showing rental properties and managing repairs, she continued building her business and experience in real estate.

Today, Carol Ann owns and manages both Coastal Gems Real Estate, LLC, and Little Man Brim’s Custom Country Furniture, LLC. Her work brings together her interests in business, design, and handcrafted furniture. She also serves as Managing Director of LegalShield and IDShield.

Through her businesses, Carol Ann combines years of professional experience with an appreciation for quality, practical design, and the unique character of handcrafted wood furniture.
